Young Vermonters Who Make a Difference!
A-6 hosted a very special young lady as a guest teacher today!
Sophia, a junior in high school, spent over an hour with the fourth graders sharing
her passion - rescuing animals, particularly wild animal babies and
animals that have been injured. She has been rehabilitating animals since
age six when she brought home her first fledgling. This articulate young lady
had lots to share, and she was very impressed with the questions asked
by the fourth graders!
Sophia's favorite to raise - pigeons!
Left: baby Cedar Waxwings Right: baby Hummingbird
Raising baby bunnies is fun!
Ask your child how to differentiate between a
wild and domestic (pet) rabbit!
Baby chipmunks!
Ask you child about the stripes
on these baby chipmunks!

Platform: Stewardship of the Land: Promoting Wildlife Rehabilitation
“No matter your race, color, creed or set of beliefs, we are all bound by our use of the land, water, animal and resources. We are all inhabitants of planet Earth and so we are bound by the fate of that planet. We have the decision to become stewards of nature or simply consumers of nature, as all share one irreversible reality. Through teaching wildlife rehabilitation to the next generation, I will help people become involved with being stewards of the land and animals."http://www.missvermont.org/outstanding-teen.htm
